‘Can I watch it again?’

That’s the sentence parents hear most often after an episode of HALUA. And it’s also what gave us the idea for the books.

Because a cartoon ends. A book stays on the shelf. You pick it up when you wake up, put it back in the bag to visit Grandma, and read it fifteen times in a row, always asking for the same page.

So we made books.

And this time, there are words.

The series is silent. Everything is understood through gestures, objects and what happens to the character. None of our characters ever speaks.

A book, on the other hand, is read aloud. So there is text—written to be told at bedtime by a parent who has had a long day. Short sentences, a gentle rhythm, and real pauses to let the child look at the picture before turning the page.

Above all, the text does not describe what the picture already shows. It tells us what is going on in the character’s head. The desire. The impatience. The little mischief we can sense coming.

The pictures come from the episodes.

They are the actual images from the series, taken from our 4K 3D renders. The same colours, the same characters, the same light.

For a child who has seen the episode, recognition is immediate. It’s their Tatay, their Loozy. Not a separately drawn version, not merchandise: the series itself, put on paper.

Six volumes are already available in France.
